My Experience about 'Accountable and Manageable Exploratory Testing' by Pradeep

Hello Everyone,

I think you all must be thinking that I am writing after a long time...why? Honestly the one and only reason not to write was lack of intrest, but one thing which forced me to write again is pradeep's session on Exploratory Testing, and this post is truely dedicated to him....

I am talking about the session, which hapend on 5/6 Feb 11. Its not that i heard him for the first time but whenever he speaks it always makes me feel that this is something which I never heard before..

His approach towards Testing is absolutely different and this time again he inspired me for the changes which required in my Testing and ofcourese Training... There were lot of participents came all were working in some organization in a project,so for them probably it was learning differnt kind of testing but for me it was learning different kind of testing as well as Training.. i would like to say it was worth apending Time, Money and brinn.. I thank him for this awsome mind opening session, specially after coming back from a long leave!!!!

I could not stop myself for mentioning that if even point zero zero percent you like to listen me please attend pradeep’s workshop because he is the one who inspired me to speak...

Why not Testing!!!

Hi all,

In this blog I am going to share my one more experience related with Software Testing which made me think “Why not Testing”

Last month I have gone to one of the prominent and renowned organization for providing software testing training and had interaction with fresh graduates who just entered in IT field, here is small chunk of that discussion.

We started like this;

How many of you already been posted to your respective locations. One candidate said, ya we all.

Next question! “Have you got your respective positions too?”

They said not yet.

Then next

“How many of you are interested in Development?” all of them raised their hands.(and said obviously)

Then I asked “How many of you are interested in Testing”?

Guess!!! How many people said “yes we are interested?”

The count was hardly 3 to 4 out of around 100 people, surprised!!! Then I said why?

They have given me some reasons:

· · Testing does not required any skills

· · Testing is an easy job

· · There is hardly any growth in Testing field

· · Testing is writing test cases for pass or fail

kj As well as we were getting more into the discussion, I understood their perceptions or misconceptions i would say.

If you also have any views on this I request to, please share …

Are These Certification really worth?

I am sharing my views about Famous Tool Certification Exams in this post.

I have heard a lot about Test Tools and their certifications. So one day I planned to appear a certification exam. For that I had to do some formalities (Fair enough), so I registered in one of their portal. I completed registration process; a week before the exam. (There no fix date given by the organizers; candidate can take up the exam any time).

I decided to take up exam on 22nd Feb.

Let me share some traumatic question I faced…….. Hold on they are not the same ones but of similar kind.

Questions were like

(Context: If somebody wants to test whether I know Windows XP which kind of questions you will expect?)

.       In Windows XP if you want to turn off your system in which position will you get ‘Turn off’ option

a.       First

b.      Second

c.       Third

d.      Nowhere

2.       If you want to see the time in your system, which part of screen should you see:

a.       Right down corner

b.      Left down corner

c.       Right up corner

d.      Left up corner

3.       What do you see in your system’s watch property window?

a.       Date & Time properties

b.      Dates & Times properties

c.       Only Date property

d.      Only Time property

4.       What is the shortcut key for copying a file from one folder to other folder?

a.       Shift + C

b.      Ctrl + C

c.       Ctrl + Shift + C

d.      Shift+ Ctrl + C

5.       Internet Option is found in which menu option in Internet Explorer.

a.       File

b.      Edit

c.       Tools

d.      Help

I couldn’t figure out whether it was a test of my understanding skills or my mug up power.

It was like feeding multiple screenshots of tools and remembers it as long as you can, or at least till completion of the exam and then HUMMM!!! I am certified.

Friends, my intention is not to criticize anyone but to make everybody think about this herd mentality of running after certification without understanding the value it adds.

End of the day few questions that kept me bothering.

“Are test tool certifications a proof of knowledge??”

“What is valuable a Certification or Knowledge??”

Please let me know you thoughts.
